I bought this cargo carrier mainly because of the price ($170-). I will use it only once or twice a year so I didn't want to buy one of the higher priced models. I took it on it's first trip, a drive from nj to fla. It served it's purpose, fit two luggage bags in it with room for more. The plastic it's made out of is a little flimsy and the hinges could be made a little stronger, but for the price you can go wrong. I'm happy with it and would recommend it for someone looking to spend less then a two hundred bucks. I'm sure the more pricier models have a thicker plastic shell and better hinge system but for this price you cannot go wrong. It has two locks, a front and back fastener and two door hinges on back (6 locking points). Hope this helps.

I bought this and made a motorcycle trailer with it. I like it is lite and durable, with lottsa room. Good price, and I'm happy with it!

Based on reviews and price, we decided to purchase this for our summer road trip from S. Texas to California and back. We were on the road for 19 days and covered over 4600 miles and it held up great! Husband is pretty handy and had no problem putting it together mostly by himself. I only had to hold a wrench in place so he could tighten the bolts when it came time to do so. He put it together in the living room while he was watching TV. He also had no problems mounting it to the car. We have a Toyota Highlander and I will say this, even with a 6'2" husband we had to take a step ladder with us to get into it.
The box held up great on the road. We went through all kinds of conditions. Extreme heat, heavy rain, high winds, never a problem. Not so much as a drop of water got in. We did not put luggage in there because of the difficulty it would have caused getting it in and out being so high in the air. But we stored just about everything else in there. Camp chairs, linens, picnic basket, souvenirs purchased along the way, dirty laundry, backpacks when weren't using them, we just kept piling it up there. I was definitely glad we had it. Other reviewers have commented on it being flimsy. It definitely "feels" flimsier than probably some of the others and in the extreme heat it was flimsy when you opened it, but it always closed back with a little finessing and sealed tight. I definitely feel it was well worth the money.
We also did not notice a huge decrease in gas mileage with it on the car. My husband mounted it as far back as possible to help with the aerodynamics and make it easier to reach the back clip. I really don't think you could be disappointed with this purchase. Especially since it is much roomier and cheaper than other models.
